Hi Everyone After the last high sierra upgrade this week (to 10.13.3) pdfs just wouldn't open on my Mac Air (13 inch, mid 2012 so a bit old now!) I just got an an adobe error message saying the file wasn't recognised. I went to adobe website and checked for updates to make sure I had the latest version - but it still would not work I then decided to uninstall adobe and reinstall. The Adobe site said there was no formal 'uninstall' for reader just find it in applications and move to trash so I did that, rebooted the mac and downloaded a new version of Acrobat Reader DC Now when I try to install adobe reader it says it has found a higher version of the reader already in the computer and aborts installation. When I look in finder/applications there is no adobe reader that I can see So I started with adobe reader DC that wouldn't work. Now I have no reader and can't download a new one. I'm sorry but this is not helping. Adobe Acrobat Reader DC software is the free global standard for reliably viewing, printing, and commenting on PDF documents. And now, it's connected to the Adobe Document Cloud − making it easier than ever to work across computers and mobile devices. The Best Replacement of Foxit Reader for Mac(macOS 10.14 Mojave Compatible) PDF (Portable Data Format) is a prefer file format for document transfer and viewing. To open and view a PDF, you might try Foxit PDF editor (or Foxit Reader). I have already tried all the suggestions at Acrobat Reader help that you signposted. I am stuck in a loop If I try to instal any version of Reader it aborts half way through what looks like a normal installation. All seems to go well then I get a message saying 'found a higher version of reader at installation location' and the installation quits If I try to uninstall reader using the acrobats cleaner ( I also posted on the adobe forum and this was the only suggestion) and it says it can't find a version of Reader on my machine So I can't install as I allegedly have a higher version already than the latest version I am trying to install And I cant delete that higher version as I apparently don't haver it on my machine after all. Very confusing and frustrating All suggestions welcome and will be tried, David. I can give you an idea to try, but I'm not sure it's going to take care of your problem. If you to the 'Apple' in the top corner of your desktop, then go to 'About this Mac'. Once that dialog box opens up, click on the storage tab at the top. This will now show you how much of your drive is being used. Next to the information there is a 'Manage' button. This then brings up another dialog box that you can see everything is using up space on your drive. Click on the Applications list on the left hand side and you should see everything that is listed in there. See if you see the Adobe Reader in there and if you do, click the 'X' that you see when you highlight over the app. If it's there, this should remove it for you so you can install it again. Acrobat Reader DC splatters stuff around the operating system, and does not just install within /Applications. Express Burn for Mac, while functional, may not justify the price required for the full version. Express Burn for Mac is available as a free trial version with an upgrade for $69.95. The limitations on the trial version aren't apparent from either the program itself or the developer's Web site. The download was fairly quick, but the installation required careful attention to avoid downloading additional, nonadvertised programs set to be downloaded by default. These included a toolbar and sound-mixing program sponsored by the same company. These additional programs were free, but also could be upgraded for a price. This, combined with the extensive license agreement, would be a problem for beginning computer users. Once installed, the interface appeared dated, but the necessary controls were prominent and easy to recognize. You can use the program to create and burn a new disc, copy an existing disc, or burn DVDs and even Blu-rays. Overall, almost any level of computer user could operate the program, despite the lack of formal instructions. The program advertises faster burning speed, though this was not readily apparent compared with programs like iTunes during testing. While the program performs its functions well and burns discs quickly, only those who heavily use burning software will benefit enough from the promised faster speed to justify Express Burn for Mac's price. If your Mac application is not 64-bit, we strongly recommend taking action to avoid compromises in the next version of macOS. Migration to Modern Xamarin.Mac The most noteworthy update includes migrating your project to 64-bit. Older projects that are still using Xamarin.Mac Classic or MonoMac will need to be migrated to Xamarin.Mac Unified to support 64-bit. Visual Studio for Mac includes a migration wizard that will help automate many of the mechanical changes that are needed to update your Mac application. First, review any build warnings. Existing warnings may be pointing towards future issues and should be fixed prior to migration. Next, start the Migration Wizard from the Project > Migrate to Xamarin.Mac Unified API menu. The menu will not be visible if your application has already been migrated to Xamarin.Mac Unified (references Xamarin.Mac.dll). After the automated migration wizard has finished, build your project to determine if additional changes are required. There were a number of API corrections made in Unified, and changes to your code may be required. More information can be found in the. I am trying to install a MacOS 10.10 virtual machine on my Mac 10.13.6 MacBook Pro using VMWare Fusion 10.1.5. I have a 10.10 installer with the.app extension. When I try to use the.app extension file as the ISO, it appears that things are installing up properly and then I get a notification that 'This copy of the Install OS X Yosemite. I’ve previously written about into a virtual machine and, but what if you have a Mac and you want the same benefits of running OS X in a virtual machine? As I mentioned earlier, running another copy of the operating system in a virtual machine can help you in two ways: protect your privacy and keep your safe from viruses/malware. Starting with OS X Lion (10.7), you can install the operating system as many times as you like into a virtual machine as long as it is on the same hardware. So if you have a MacBook Pro with OS X El Capitan installed, you can install as many copies of El Capitan into virtual machines on that same machine. In this article, I’ll walk you through the steps to get OS X installed using VMware Fusion. There is a free program called VirtualBox, but it has some drawbacks. VMware Fusion is not free, but has more features and is generally more powerful and easier to use than VirtualBox. VirtualBox requires using Terminal commands to get OS X installed. In addition, it doesn’t even work properly for the latest version of OS X. Note that there are two ways to install OS X on VMware fusion: download OS X from the App Store and use that for installing or to use the recovery partition to reinstall OS X. I’ll explain both methods in this post. Download OS X You can install OS X Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks, Yosemite, or El Capitan into a virtual machine on your Mac computer. Before you get started with the download method, you need to grab a copy of the OS X installer from the App Store. To do this, open the App Store and download your version of OS X. In my example, I am running El Capitan, so that is what I will download. It’s listed on the right hand side in the list of links. Click the Download button and the install app will be downloaded to your Applications folder in OS X. The download will be several GBs in size, so it could take a while for the download to complete. Install OS X in VMware Fusion Note that you will need VMware Fusion 8 installed if you want to install El Capitan. You can always check the to see which operating systems are supported by different versions of VMware software. Simply scroll down the Product Release Version list box and choose your version of VMware Fusion. Now open VMware Fusion and then click on File and New to start creating a new virtual machine. A window will pop up where you can either install from a disc or image or you can choose from a couple of other options. Here is where we can go either of two ways. If you downloaded OS X from the App Store, you’re going to choose Install from disc or image. If you simply want to use the recovery partition on your Mac, you’re going to choose Install OS X from the recovery partition. Install from Disc or Image Select this option and then click Continue. You’ll now need to choose the disc or image to continue the install. Go ahead and click on the Use another disc or disc image button at the bottom of the screen and browse to the location of the OS X install app, which should be located under the Applications folder. Click Open and it should now show up in the list. You can now select it and click Continue to start the installation. The last screen of the wizard will give you a summary of all the settings. If everything looks good, go ahead and click Finish to start the virtual machine. You’ll be asked to save the virtual machine so give it a name and pick a location. Click Save and the virtual machine should start up after a few minutes. You’ll then see the Apple logo appear and the progress bar. Once this finishes, you’ll get the screen where you choose your language. Click the arrow and you’ll see the OS X Utilities screen. Top 5 Calendar Apps for Mac That Will Keep You Organized.
